About

Sheri Mattson Brauneis is the Alaskan artist behind Sheri Mattson Pottery. She creates quality handcrafted wheel thrown and hand built functional stoneware pottery. Sheri pays close attention to detail every step of the way in her craft.

Sheri’s pottery journey began in high school, and continued through her college years and beyond. She has taken numerous classes and workshops, and frequently mentors aspiring potters in the community, sharing her skills with others.

Sheri’s work incorporates aspects of Alaska’s mountains, plants, trees, and wildlife.  She often uses flowers, ferns, and herbs from her garden, pressing them into the clay to create a lasting memory of Alaska’s brief summer beauty.  Her salmon and halibut platters are inspired by family camping and fishing trips while growing up in Alaska. She has been making pottery for over 40 years, and enjoys sharing her art form that can be used by people in their everyday lives. All of her stoneware pottery is made in her home pottery studio in Wasilla, Alaska.
